Pegasus bridge have a lovely new exhibit. A Bren carrier which landed on 06-06-1944 on Sword beach has been restored and placed in the main hall. Nikolas Dumont, senior curator of the museum, wanted a Wireless set 19 to complete the restoration and Tony Barron, Martin Smyth, Rich Bamber and VMARS came up with a cosmetically restored copy. Before opening on Thursday, Tony installed it in the tiny compartment and demonstrated just how awkward and uncomfortable it would have been to operate it in action.
Tony says "It was a great privilege to be able to loan a WS19 to the Pegasus bridge memorial on behalf of VMARS" https://www.vmars.org.uk/ |
